Mrs. Edna McCabe

Mrs. Edna McCabe, 76, King's Daughters, Home, Ft. Madison, a former Hillsboro postmistress, died Saturday morning, October 17, at Sacred Heart hospital. She had been in failing health several months.

Mrs. McCabe was born June 23, 1894, in Burlington, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Warner Henshall Embick.

She lived in Hillsboro more than 50 years, was postmistress more than 39 years and taught school about 20 years. She was married to Fred McCabe in Burlington, and was a member of the Hillsboro Christian church, Federated Women's Club, and Silver Cross circle of King's Daughters.

Surviving: Daughter, Mrs. Patti Wolfe, Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Chester (Ruth) Gross, Fort Madison, and Mrs. Betty Allsup, Omaha, Neb.; and a granddaughter.

The funeral was held Monday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Barr Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Sawyer officiating. Burial was in Hillsboro cemetery.
