Mary Margaret Morris was born at Salem, Iowa July 26, 1881. She was the daughter of Robert and Alice Kentfield White.

At the age of six she moved with her parents to Fairfield, Iowa for three years then came back to Hillsboro where she grew to womanhood.

At the age of 13 she was united with the Methodist church and taught Sunday School class for several years.

She was a nurse in the Children's Home in Ottumwa for four years.

On December 30, 1915 she was married to Stephen R. Morris of Mt. Sterling, Iowa. He died March 2, 1934. After his death she took up caring for the sick again. She was cook and dietician in the Leorke Hospital in Ottumwa until the hospital closed. She came back to Hillsboro and made her home with Lela Billingsley until she passed away. She then went to the home of her step-daughter and husband and resided 7 1/2 years.

Mrs. Morris passed away at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital Nov. 20, 1970. Surviving are two step-sons, Melvin Morris of Mt. Sterling and Harold Morris of Mt. Sterling; one step-daughter, Mrs. Arthur Poling of rural Keosauqua; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Other relatives and a host of friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Services for Mrs. Morris were at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, Nov. 22, 1970 at the Catcott Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Iowa, in charge of Rev. James M. Ford with interment in Harness Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Iowa.
