Mrs. Velma Griffiths

Mrs. Velma Belle Griffiths, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 4 in San Diego, California.

Born Feb. 13, 1896, in Birmingham, she was the daughter of James and Permelia Davidson Belle. The family moved to Fairfield when she was a small girl and she spent her early life in that community. She had been a California resident for 38 years. She married to Phlin Griffiths, who preceded her in death.

Survivors are two daughters, Gwenith Stegmyere of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Jean Blackwell of Concord, Calif.; six brothers, Roy of Central Point, Ore., Merlin of Petersburg, Alaska, Vane of Argyle, John of Birmingham, Donald and Velmer Belle, both of Fairfield; and one sister, Ila Looney of San Diego.

A graveside service was held Monday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Kilbourne Cemetery, southwest of Birmingham, conducted by the Rev. Wilson Hyde.
