George W. Bailey

Funeral services for George W. Bailey, 85, R.R. Hillsboro, were held Friday, Nov. 13, 1970 at 1:00 P.M. from the Beatty-Jennings Chapel at Salem, with the Rev. Waylen Brown, pastor of the Salem Friends Church, officiating. Mr. Bailey entered into rest at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield on Nov. 10.

Music was provided by Mrs. Gordon Watts, organist, and Mrs. Waylen Brown, soloist.

Casket escorts were Robert Countryman, Francis Countryman, Clarence Countryman, Clair Countryman, Hilbert Countryman and Robert Beatty.

Interment was in the Springdale Cemetery near West Branch.

Mr. Bailey was born Oct. 29, 1885 at West Branch, Iowa, the son of Joseph M. and Elizabeth Harris Bailey.

He was married to Minnie Merril, who is deceased. On Aug. 14, 1942, he was married to Florence Pundmann, who survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Marvin, Alvin, Vernon, Merlin, and Marion; four daughters, Mrs. Glen Gutting, Mrs. Richard Dust, Mrs. Gerald Hittle and Mrs. Dean Blake, all living in Michigan; one stepson, Charles Bowman of West Branch; also grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
