William Dukes Carr

A graveside service was held Tuesday, October 27, at 2:45 p.m. in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington, for William Dukes Carr, 72, of Sarasota, Fla. The Rev. Mary Hutson Boyer of Nauvoo officiated. The body arrived Tuesday at Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. A funeral service was held Sunday at Sarasota.

Mr. Carr died Friday, October 23, in Memorial hospital, Sarasota, after a long illness.

He was the son of John and Ida Dukes Carr and was born July 10, 1898, at Mt. Sterling. He was married to Lucretia Merrick.

A resident of Sarasota for the past 11 years, he was formerly of Fort Madison and Farmington. He was employed by the North Central Public Service Co. in Fort Madison.

He was a member of the United Methodist church in Dallas City and the Eagles lodge.

Surviving are his wife; one son Richard M. Carr, Sarasota; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Jones, Redlands, Calif., Mrs. Howard Patton, Ramona, Calif., and Mrs. Donald Belt, Panama City, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren.
