Ruth Sherwood

Ruth Sherwood, daughter of Frank and Laura Scarborough Cooley, was born July 1, 1890 in Milton, Iowa, and passed away suddenly Nov. 27, 1970 while in Des Moines, visiting, at the age of 80.

She graduated from the Milton High School and on Nov. 24, 1909 she married Warren Sherwood, who survives. Also surviving are a son Gerald and grandson, David, both of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers.

She had lived in Milton all her life and had taken active part in several community organizations. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S. Chapter AD of P.E.O., the Milton Federated Women's Club, and Carr Chapter 10 of the Order of Eastern Star, which she had served as pianist for many years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 1st, at 2 P.M. at Grace United Methodist Church, Milton, with the Rev. Herbert E. Phillips officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. Arrangements were by Wellborn Funeral Home.
