Dayton Small, 77, died Sunday morning, Oct. 11 at his home three and a half miles southeast of Fairfield.

He was born Dec. 24, 1892, at Tazewell County, Ill., the son of John and Rebecca Plum Small.

He was married to Alice Smith, Feb. 17, 1915, at Keokuk. He had lived in the Fairfield community for 35 years and before that lived at Farmington. He was a member of the Farmington Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows Lodge, and the Woodmen Lodge.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Parley of Packwood and Radford of Libertyville; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. E.R. Dallner of Fairfield.

The funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Weston-Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wilson Hyde in charge. Burial was in Green Glade Cemetery at Farmington.
