Funeral services for Laura Wilma Evans were held Thursday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Milton Church with James D. McKean officiating. Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery.

Laura Wilma Evans was born July 25, 1902 at Lancaster, Mo. and passed away at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was the daughter of Nelson Franklin Bird Lasley and Belveretta Lunsford. On July 28, 1924, she married William Earl Evans of Cantril. They spent a few of their early years in the café business in Cantril, moving to Milton in 1932, where they have resided since. She was a telephone operator at Milton for many years.

When a young girl she became a member of the Milton Christian Church. She was a Past Noble Grand of the Rebecca Lodge, Past Worthy Matron of Carr Chapter O.E.S. She also served for three years as a Grand Representative in the Grand Chapter of Iowa Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sistr, Lelia Gray.

Surviving are her husband; her brother, James Lasley of Hardtner, Kansas; one sister, Lois Cassatt of Milton; a niece, Gale Lasley Cook of Hardtner, Kansas, several other nieces and nephews, and a multitude of loving friends.
