Cheryl W. Scotton

Mrs. Cheryl W. Scotton, 53, of Farmington died Saturday, Sept. 5 at 7:40 p.m. in Sacred Heart hospital, Fort Madison after a lengthy illness.

She was born July 27, 1917 at Mt. Sterling, Ia., the daughter of Axel and Clara May Brooks Hamberg.

She married Torrence Scotton at Fort Madison in 1935. He survives.

A former resident of Mt. Sterling, she lived in Farmington for 13 years. She was employed at the Shellor Glove at Keokuk as a Prep. operator. Mrs. Scotton was a member of the Farmington United Methodist church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, James E. Scotton of Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota; four brothers, Edgar Hamberg of Amana, Arthur Hamberg of Farmington, Carl Hamberg of Cantril, and Fred Hamberg of Eldon, Mo.; five sisters, Mrs. Mernon Gandy of Pulaski, Mrs. Alda Breckenridge of Redwood City, Calif., Mrs. Doris Wheaton of Pulaski, Mrs. Lucile Edwards of Watsonville, Calif., Audrey Alberg of Golden, Colo.; four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. in the Farmington United Methodist church with the Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial was in the Harness cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Ia.

Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge of arrangements.
