A.J. Wells

A.J. Wells, 84, Birmingham, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, at work at the Burch Furniture store here. Death was attributed to a heat(heart) attack.

He was born Nov. 26, 1885, near Nevada, Ia., to Mr. and Mrs. Bloomfield Wells. He married Grace Arnold, who died Mar. 6, 1950. He married Zea Martin on Mar. 7, 1953.

Surviving: The wife; a son, Everett Wells, Mason City; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Moore, West Burlington; a stepson, Elton Martin, Bonaparte; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wells was a member of the Stockport Masonic Lodge No. 634, having received his 50-year membership Dec. 26, 1962.

He operated a hardware and implement business at Cantril before moving to this vicinity to farm. Later he moved to Birmingham and had worked at the furniture store since 1950.

Funeral services were at w p.m. Friday, Birmingham Presbyterian church. Rev. James M. Ford. Burial at Maple Grove cemetery at Cantril, with Masonic rites at the cemetery. Services by the Burch funeral home in Birmingham.
