Levi E. Farley

Levi E. Farley was born to Matthew and Jane Ellison Farley in Carlisle, Iowa, Aug. 19, 1891 and passed away Friday evening, Aug. 14, 1970 in the Americana Nursing Home in Rockford, Ill., after a lingering illness. He was 78 years 11 months and 26 days of age.

He was united in marriage to Edith Eleanor Williamson June 14, 1922 in Bonaparte, Iowa, and to this union was born one son, Robert.

"Lee" as he was known by his friends was an Agent for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad and has served in Hartford, Bonaparte, Victor, and Grinnell. He had 43 years of service with the Railroad when he retired in 1956 while living in Grinnell.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Durand, Ill., a 50 year member of the Masonic A.F. & A.M. Lodge No. 73 and Eastern Star Chapter both in Bonaparte.

He is survived by his wife, Edith and one son, Robert, three granddaughters, all of Duran, Ill., two brothers Roy and Ray of Carlisle, Iowa, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held in Durand, ill., at the McCorkle Funeral Home at 8:00 P.M. Saturday evening conducted by the Rev. George Lockwood and another service was conducted at the Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa, with the Rev. Glen W. Lamb officiating. Sunday, Aug. 16, 1970 at 2:30 P.M. with interment in the Carlisle Cemetery.
