Jay A. Edwards

Jay A. Edwards, 52, died in University hospitals, Iowa City, at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, after a long illness.

A native of Monroe county, Mr. Edwards was born July 13, 1918, the son of William and Saddie Smith Edwards.

He was reared in Ottumwa and was married to Rita Gentry at Macomb, Ill.

Mr. Edwards has been a resident of Farmington for seven years. He was a foreman at John Morrell Co., Ottumwa.

Surviving: The wife; five sons, and five daughters: Roger, James, Joseph, Juanita, Carol, and Janet, all of Winterset; Jerry and Judy, Des Moines; Sarah, Mexico, Mo., and Jay Thomas, Farmington; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret DeJoode, Pleasantville; Mrs. Robert Ward, Sr., Milton; and Mrs. William Chilcote, Belle Plaine; and three grandchildren.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at Miller-Hofbauer funeral home, Donnellson; with Rev. Nolan Kelsey officiating. A committal service was held at 2 p.m. in Pleasant Corner cemetery, Eddyville.
