Verne Van Steinburg

Verne Van Steinburg, 73, former resident of Stockport, died at 8:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Burlington. He had been in failing health for several years.

Born June 12, 1897, at Midland, Mich., he was the son of Dr. Alonzo and Anna Lyon Steinburg. He married Cora Belle Heare on Oct. 9, 1926. He was a former auto mechanic and a railroad fireman and engineer.

Survivors in addition to his widow are three daughters, Mrs. Wilson Swailes of Mount Pleasant, Mrs. E.D. Webb of Burlington and Betty Hill of Mesa, Ariz.; one son, George of Copperas Cove, Tex.; nine grandchildren and six great-grand-children.

The services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at Spencer Cemetery at Stockport conducted by the Rev. Chester C. Werft. Arrangements by Weston Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
