Mabel Wollam

Mrs. Mabel Wollam, 72, of Farmington died Thursday, July 23, at 9:45 p.m. in St. Joseph hospital, Keokuk. She had been ill six weeks.

The daughter of Orlo and Anna Gheen Carnahan, she was born Aug. 1, 1897 at Pontiac, Kansas. She spent her childhood in the Mount Pleasant, Iowa area and has been a Farmington resident 27 years.

On May 28, 1921 at Bloomfield, she married Riley Wollam. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of the United Methodist church at Farmington, the W.S.C.S., Mizpah chapter No. 24 O.E.S., and was treasurer of the Van Buren County Association for Retarded Children.

Surviving are one son, Jerry of Stockport; five daughters, Miss Ruth Wollam, Mrs. Louis (Lois) Polito, all of Rock Island, ill., Mrs. Clarence (Shirley) Janeba of Gardena, Calif., and Mrs. Billy (Annadeen) Perkins of Farmington; one sister, Grace Heald of Mt. Sterling; her step-mother, Juadell Carnahan of Cantril; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service was held Sunday, July 26 at 2 p.m. in the Farmington United Methodist church with the Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial was in . . . (missing)
