James D. Beckett

James D. Beckett, 86, of Montrose died Tuesday, July 28, at 5:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart hospital, Fort Madison after a lengthy illness.

Born Dec. 15, 1883 in Alexandria, Mo., he was the son of Robert C. and Martha Davies Beckett.

On Feb. 10, 1901 he married Hettie Richey of Argyle. She died in January of 1968. He was also preceded in death by one son.

Mr. Beckett was a farmer. He was a member of the Argyle Presbyterian church.

His only survivors are three grandsons, Richard Beckett of Des Moines, Gary Beckett of Keokuk and Randy Beckett of Argyle; one granddaughter, Mrs. Donald (Betty) Calvert of Montrose, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Argyle Presbyterian church with the Rev. Kenneth Harden officiating. Burial was in Embury cemetery. Services were by Miller-Hofbauer Funural(err) Hom, Donnellson.
