Guss M. Mills

Guss M. Mills passed away early Friday morning, Aug. 28, 1970 at the Moore Nursing Home at Stockport at the age of 83. He had been in failing health for the past several years.

The son of Albert and Martha Perkins Mills he was born in Mercer County, Ill. on Dec. 6, 1886. On Nov. 4, 1911 he married Edna Mae West of Troy, Iowa. To this union six children were born, two of which survive, Mrs. Kenneth Roberts of Fairfield and Donald L. Mills of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife Edna and four sons, Paul, Albert, Robert and Cleve; his parents; one sister and two brothers.

He married Lena Burnett in January 1933, who also preceded him in death in June 1969.

Mr. Mills was a member of the Bonaparte Baptist Church and the Bonaparte I.O.O.F. Lodge.

Funeral services were held at the Bonaparte Baptist Church on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 2:00 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. Gerald Ogden officiating. Mrs. Dean Burns was organist. Pallbearers were Morris Huff, Andrew Williams, Martin and Gilbert Burling. John Scott, Ray McCracken and Elton Martin, members of the I.O.O.F. Lodge. Burial was in Troy Cemetery at Troy, Iowa.
