James A. Swanger

James Allan Swanger, 83, of Farmington, died Saturday, July 25, at 6:20 p.m. in St. Joseph hospital, Keokuk, after a weeks illness.

He was born March 20, 1887 near Augusta, Iowa in Lee county, the son of James Allen and Augusta Reebe Swanger.

A resident of Farmington for 21 years, he moved there from Burlington. Mr. Swanger was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic church in Farmington.

His marriage to Gertrude Boecker took place April w4, 1907 at West Burlington. She died Sept. 16, 1944.

He married Generose Sporer on Nov. 29, 1945 at West Point and she survives.

Also surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Chalmer (Martha) Paris of Wilmington, Calif., Mrs. Florence Landes of West Burlington, and Mrs. John (Beulah) Darrah of Roseville, Ill.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Stephenson of Miami, Fla. and Mrs. Carrie Parker of Brighton, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by two daughters and one son.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 9 a.m. in St. Boniface Catholic church, Farmington, with the Rev. William Wiebler officiating. There will also be a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Elliott-Lunning Chapel, Burlington. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery, Burlington.

The recitation of the Rosary will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Elliott-Lunning Chapel.
