George C. Williams

George C. Williams, son of James and Lydia Reneker Williams, was born Sept. 12, 1882, in Van Buren County, south of Libertyville, and departed this life Friday, May 22, 1970, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 87.

Mr. Williams homesteaded in Oklahoma early in this century, and was married there in 1914 to Francis J. Ward. He lived in several western states and for a number of years in California, prior to his return to the Douds community in 1957. For the past four years he had lived at the Moore Nursing Home in Stockport. He was the last of a family of four children.

Remaining to mourn his passing are his daughter, Mrs. Hyff Schalliol and son-in-law, Willie Schalliol of West Lafayette, Ind.; three grandsons, John, Dennis and Greg Schalliol, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 24, 1970, at 2 P.M. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Willis Grant, United Methodist pastor officiating. Mrs. Gerold Hughes was the organist. Pallbearers were Paul Winsell, Lloyd Williams, John Williams, Ross Cramlet, Raymond Booth, and Kenneth Wells. Interment was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.
