Robert G. Muntz

Robert Glen Muntz, 82, of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, R.R. died Saturday, May 23, at 10:45 a.m. in the Shady Rest Nursing Home, Bonaparte, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 8, 1888 near Mt. Sterling, the son of Jacob and Josephine Simmons Muntz, and was a lifelong resident of southern Van Buren county.

A retired farmer, Mr. Muntz was employed for a short time as a railroad telegrapher at Van Wert, Iowa.

On June 7, 1913 at Farmington, he married Hazel Lerche, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, E. Merle Muntz and William J. Muntz, both of Mt. Sterling RR, and Robert D. Muntz of Des Moines; two daughters, Miss Jessie B. Muntz of Quincy, Ill. and Mrs. Paul (Doris) Walljasper of Urbana, Ill.; one brother, Frank Muntz of Farmington; three sisters, Mrs. Fern Wells, Mrs. Carrie Von Seggen, both of Farmington, and Mrs. Wilbern (Vera) Gee of Fort Madison; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers and three sisters.

The funeral service was held Monday, May 25, at 2 p.m. in Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington with the Rev. Ronald Cochran officiating. Burial was in Thompson cemetery west of Farmington.
