Linn Beatty

Linn Beatty, 83, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Jan. 28.

The son of William and Agnes Gibb Beatty, he was born June 29, 1886 near Keosauqua. On Dec. 29, 1914, he married Nellie Mechem. She died in 1954. On Dec. 3, 1955, he married Helen Dickey, who survives.

Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Shirley Craig of Milton, Mrs. Eleanor Strait and Mrs. Winona Johnston of Keosauqua, Mrs. Ruth Darden of Des Moines; one step-son, Richard Dickey, stationed in Germany with the United States Army; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Charlene; two sisters, Ida and Nellie; two brothers, Herman and Roy.

The body was taken to Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20 in the United Methodist Church in Keosauqua, with the Rev. James F. Ford officiating. Burial was in Forbes cemetery.
