Mrs. Edith E. Talbott

Mrs. Edith E. Talbott, daughter of Samuel and Maude Cole Locke, was born August 4, 1898, near Stockport, and departed this life Thursday, May 14, 1970, at the Ottumwa Hospital, at the age of 71.

Most of her life was spent in the Selma and Douds communities. On Feb. 16, 1921, she was married to Charles Talbott.

Remaining to mourn her passing are her faithful husband, 2 sons, Robert of Douds and Roscoe, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Hill of Douds, other relatives and many friends. A sister, Mrs. Maude Robertson, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Talbott was an active member and past Noble Grand of the Selma Rebekah Lodge, and a member of the Douds American Legion Auxiliary.

She will be remembered as a faithful wife, mother, friend and neighbor, who always thought more of doing for others than for herself.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 17, 1970, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Moriah Church north of Douds, with the Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Mrs. Max Caves. Pall bearers were Roy Copeland, Dale Morrow, Joe Michael, Vern Lagle, Fred Fulton, and Paul Winsell. Interment was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home.
