Gladys L. Baker

Gladys L. Baker, 74, of 1019 S. Hancock St., Ottumwa, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, March 16 at Jefferson Square Manor following a long illness.

The daughter of Milton and Laura Lockwood Barker, she was born July 12, 1895 at Keosauqua. She had been a resident of Ottumwa for 43 years and was a member of the Calvary Open Bible Church.

Her marriage to Thurman Baker, took place April 25, 1911, at Fairfield. He survives. She also leaves one son, Charles Ray Baker of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Howell of Ottumwa and Mrs. Ruth Lee of Santa Rosa, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Nina Weber of Ottumwa; and one brother, Albert Barker of Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. Nora McCarty, who died in 1951, and Mrs. Helen Walker, who died in 1961; one sister and one brother preceded her in death.
