Merle Tucker

Merle Tucker, 48, of Farmington died suddenly Friday, March 27, at 5:15 a.m. at home. He had been in failing health.

He was born March 3, 1922, at Farmington the son of Rollin and Mae Vance Tucker.

On Feb. 17, 1946, at Ft. Madison he married Dorothy Mae Miller who survives.

Except for a hitch in the Navy during World War II, he was a lifelong resident of Farmington. He was owner and operator of a grocery.

Mr. Tucker was a member of the Congregational Church, the American Legion Post, and Mt. Moriah lodge AF and AM.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Janis Ruth Hasenmiller of River Grove, Ill., and Cynthia Nadine at home; his mother, Mrs. Mae Vance Tucker; two sisters, Mrs. Estella Hollin of Milton and Mrs. Ellen Turner of Huntsville, Mo.; four brothers, Max Tucker of Fairmont, Minnesota, Norval Tucker of Iowa City and Elwood Vance of Farmington.

The funeral was held Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m. in the Farmington United Methodist church with the Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial was in the Farmington Cemetery.

Miller's Home for Funeral in Farmington were in charge of arrangements.
