Willard Hervey

Willard Hervey, 66, died unexpectedly at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, which he had entered as a patient, Feb. 24. Cause of death was acute diabetes.

The son of John W. and Grace Sell Hervey, he was born June 4, 1903 near Mt. Sterling. He attended the Enterprise rural school near Keosauqua and spent his entire life in the Keosauqua area where he farmed.

He married Opal Wolfe in December, 1926. Mr. Hervey is survives by one son, Byron of Keosauqua; one daughter, Valara Ferris of Keokuk; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Robert Hervey of Keosauqua; five sisters, Mrs. Otis Beggs and Mrs. James MeLeland of Keosauqua, Mrs. Elmer Mellen of Gray Summit, Mo., Mrs. Herbert Duke of Garrison, S.C., Mrs. Fred Akey of Keokuk.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28 at Center Chapel Church, with burial in the Center Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. James M. Ford, pastor, officiated.
