Esmond Rider

A prominent Farmington nurseryman, Esmond Dale rider, 56, died Friday, FeFb.(err) 27, at 6:05 p.m. in St. Joseph hospital, Keokuk, where he was a patient 24 hours.

He was born Sept. 21, 1913 at Farmington the son of Glenn F. and Mabel C. Wollenweber Rider.

He was co-owner and operator with Harold and Betty Rider of Rider's Nursery and Floral Company at Farmington. He was a ham radio operator for 35 years. He was chief radio operator of the Naval Ship Stephen Crane during World War II. Mr. Rider served two terms on the Farmington town council.

Surviving are two brothers, Harold E. Rider, with who he made his home, and Forrest Rider, both of Farmington, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service was held Monday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m. in the Farmington United Methodist church with the Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery, Farmington.

Arrangements were by Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington.
