Mrs. Erlena Hemm

Mrs. Erlena Hemm, 68, of rural Birmingham died at 7 a.m. Monday, March 2 in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua following a 10-year illness.

The daughter of Daniel and Viola Pyle Brown, she was born June 18, 1901 near Eldon. On Dec. 22, 19244, she married Harry L. Hemm, who survives.

Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Lonnie Nixon of Mt. Sterling and Dorothy Hemm at home; one grandson; one brother, Danny Brown of Ottumwa; six sisters, Mrs. John Beghtol, Mrs. Walter Shute, Mrs. V.J. Scott, Mrs. Loren Headlee, Mrs. Nick Marsh, Mrs. Kenneth Lewis.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 4 at the Catcott Funeral Home I Keosauqua, with the Rev. Millard Marshall, Congregational Church pastor, officiating. Burial was in Fellows Cemetery at Keosauqua.
