Mrs. Sarah L. Cole

Mrs. Sarah L. Cole, 63, of 122 S. Hancock, Ottumwa, widow of Grover Cole, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa.

The daughter of George and Myrtle Brockert Rhoades, she was born Oct. 31, 1906 at Chariton, Iowa. She married Grover Cole in December 1922. He died March 3, 1969.

She is survived by three sons, Clarence Cole of Glenwood, Ray Cole of Ottumwa, Pvt. Francis E. Cole of Ft. Bragg, N.C.: six daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller,
Mrs. Myrtle Dell Hamre, Mrs. Arlene Palmer and Mrs. Norma Graham, all of Ottumwa, Mrs. Weltha Mohacsi of Santa Clara, Calif., Mrs. Lucille Miller of Iowa City; by her mother, who lives in Ottumwa; by one brother, Edward Rhoades of Floris, Iowa; 30 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, five sisters, two brothers and a grandson.

The body was taken to the Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua where services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Clarence Hibbs in charge. Burial was in Pittsburg Cemetery.
