Mrs. Velma Yarnell

Mrs. Velma Idella Yarnell, daughter of Elmer and Lillie Badgley Nason, was born July 31, 1897 in Van Buren County and departed this life Monday Feb. 2, 1970, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 72. Most of her life was spent in the Douds communities.

On Feb. 23, 1916, she was married to Wilbur Yarnell. To this union were born two sons, Dean and Donald.

Remaining to mourn her passing are her faithful husband, their two sons, both of Keosauqua, and three sisters, Mrs. Mabelle Allen of Richmond, Ky., Mrs. Bessie McChesney of Batavia and Mrs. Fern Dooley of Des Moines, other relatives and many friends.

A sister, Mrs. Blanche Gilbert and two brothers, Bertram and Mack Nason preceded her in death.

She was dearly devoted to her family and always willing to help others in need, as long as her health permitted.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 5, 1970, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Millard Marshall, pastor of the Keosauqua Congregational Church, officiating. Mrs. Charley Kunzman was the organist. Pall bearers were William House, Sam House, Elmer Spencer, Ernest Bates, Walter Bentzinger, and Donald Campbell. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery.
