Mrs. Mabel Graves

We received the following obituary of Mrs. Mabel Shriver Hilliard Graves, a former resident of Bonaparte from Katherine LaRose, formerly Katherine Downey. Mrs. LaRose is now living in Progress, B.C., Canada. She said she had received word of the death of Mrs. Graves about the first of the year.

Mabel Irene Shriver was born June 14, 1903 in Bonaparte, Iowa, the oldest daughter of Flora Robbins and George (jack) Shriver, and passed away at a local hospital in Wenatchee, Wash., on Monday, Nov. 24, 1969. Mabel spent her early life in Bonaparte, and attended the Bonaparte school. Following her marriage to Samuel W. Hilliard, June 5, 1920, in Bonaparte, she moved west, living in Wenatchee. Mr. Hilliard died in 1946.

On Sept. 10, 1954, she married Russell Graves in Seattle, and they made their home in Wenatchee.

Mrs. Graves was a 20-year member of the FOE Auxiliary 204 and served as mother of the auxiliary.

Mrs. Graves was a member of the first Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, two sons, Robert F. Hilliard and George W. Hilliard, both of East Wenatchee; one daughter, Mrs. Flora Shaw, Wenatchee; one sister, Mrs. Yvonne O'Hara, Seattle, and four grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death.

Telford's Chapel of the Valley was in charge of funeral arrangements, service being held Nov. 29, 1969 with burial in the Wenatchee Cemetery.
