Carl R. Ellis

Carl R. Ellis, 63, of rural Keosauqua, died Sunday, Dec. 28, at 5:15 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, after a three-month illness.

The son of Charles S. and Sophia Seaman, he was born Aug. 17, 1906, in Van Buren county.

He was married to Lois Mary Schnelle June 20, 1943. She died in 1962. An infant daughter, Anita, also preceded him in death.

He graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1927. Mr. Ellis farmed in Van Buren County throughout his lifetime.

Surviving are a daughter, Ellen Rae Ellis, a teacher in the Missouri State School for the Blind in St. Louis; his parents, of Ames; and a sister, Mrs. Irene McBurney of Ames.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Keosauqua Christian Church, with the Rev. Howard McPeak in charge. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery at Keosauqua.

Catcott Funeral home of Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
