Harry Gould Gibbons

Harry Gould Gibbons, 71, passed away suddenly at his home in Milton, Dec. 17, at 4:30 A.M. He was born Jan. 17, 1898 in Alexandria, Mo., the son of William and Lydia Hauger Gibbons.

On Dec. 18, 1918, he was united in marriage to Florence Groves, who survives as well as their two children: Ronald William of Covina, Calif. and Margery McTarsney of Beaumont, Calif., also one sister, Helen Gibbons of Sun City, Calif.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

He was employed with the Santa Fe Railroad for two years and with the Elgin-Joliet and Eastern Railroad for 47 years. He was a member of the Railway Carman Union of America and served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Local Union in Gary, Ind.

He retired from the Railway in 1963 and in 1964 Harry and his wife moved to Milton, Iowa where they have renewed old friendships and made many new friends.

On Dec. 18, 1968 Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Services were held Saturday at the Wellborn Funeral Home at 2 P.M. Rev. Herbert E. Phillips was in charge. Interment was at Sunnyside Cemetery.
