Mrs. Josie Harryman

Mrs. Josie Harryman, 87, who had been a news correspondent 52 years, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 1 in Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua.

She was the daughter of Stephen and Nancy Jane Douglas Pittman and was born Dec. 13, 1881, ohn a farm southeast of Cantril. She was graduated from Milton High School in 1902. She taught in rural schools six years and in the Cantril grades five years. She served as town clerk under mayor-ships of R.L. Wellborn, Vironda Teeter and John Van Fleet. She was treasurer of the Cantril Methodist Church more than 25 years.

On Nov. 11, 1914 she married George Hatch, who died Nov. 30, 1928. She was married Nov. 3, 1941, to Wade Harryman, who died April 22, 1952. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Nora Glascock of Bedford, Ore., and nieces and nephews.

The service was held Friday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Cantril United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Harold Harryman of Newton and the Rev. Herbert Phillips, local pastor. Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery.
