Mrs. George F. Johnson

Mrs. George F. (Edith Meek) Johnson, age 45, of Alpha, Ill. died Oct. 20, 1969 at Moline Public Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born Nov. 1, 1923 at Bonaparte and reared and educated in Bonaparte school and attended Braneau College for Women for one year at Gainsville, Ga. She then attended Knox College at Galesburg, Ill. where she graduated in 1945.

She married George Johnson of Woodhull, Ill. in 1947 at Bonaparte. She was a member of Chapter L P.E.O. of Woodhull and was a member of Alpha Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She had taught Al Wood school for several years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kirk Meek of Bonaparte.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Sylvian and Susan; one son, Steven; her mother, Mrs. Alice Meek of Bonaparte; one brother, Deane Meek of Bonaparte; nine nephews and one niece.

Funeral services were held Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Alpha Methodist Church with Rev. Charles DeLay officiating. Interment was in Woodhull cemetery.
