Mrs. Carl Haffner
Mrs. Irene Haffner, 63, of Hickory Hills, Burlington, widow of Carl Haffner, died very suddenly Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3 P.M. at her home.
The former Irene Shoemaker, she was born Sept. 22, 1906, at Richland, the daughter of Samuel and Della Haynes Shoemaker.
She married Carl Haffner on July 19, 1929, at Ft. Madison. He died March 16, 1967. They spent their entire married life on the same farm near Sharon.
She was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel Haffner and Joseph Haffner; and five daughters, Mrs. Wendell Watkins, Farmington, Mrs. Lyle Mills, Mrs. Guy Mills, Miss Wanda Haffner and Mrs. Donald Gibbs all of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Isaac McCracken of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Lloyd LeFebvre of Farmington; 14 grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 2:00 P.M. in the Sharon Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Kenneth Harden officiated. Burial was in Sharon Cemetery. Miller's Home for Funerals in Donnellson was in charge of arrangements.
