Ella L. Parrott

Mrs. Ella L. Parrott, daughter of Henry and Laura Crawford Hootman, was born May 21, 1897, in the Oak Grove community east of Douds and departed this life Monday, Aug. 11, 1969, at Illini Hospital in Silvis, Ill., at the age of 72.

On April 20, 1921 she was married to Leo f. Parrott. Their married life was spent in the Oak Grove neighborhood. Mr. Parrott passed away in 1967, and she then left her home to live with her children. Her parents and two brothers also preceded her in death.

Remaining to honor her memory are two daughters, Mrs. Clella McQuaide of East Moline, Il., and Mrs. Beulah Rains of Birmingham; a son, David of Moline, Ill.; sons-in-law Vern McQuaide and Robert Rains; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Parrott; nine grandchildren, Melvin, Wanda, and Gary McQuaide; Stephen and Douglas Parrott, and Roy, Carolyn, Darrell and Allen Rains, one great-grandson, Jeffrey Parrott; a brother, Walter Hootman of Douds; two sisters, Alice Hootman of Eldon and Mrs. Iva Cohenour of Ottumwa, other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Mrs. Parrott will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her quiet and kindly manner in all situations.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 14, 1969 at 2 P.M. at the Oak Grove Church, with the Rev. Eugene Schmidt, pastor of Zion Bible Church officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Mrs. Charley Kunzman. Pall bearers were Ray Gates, Boss Leyden, Dewey Harryman, Raymond Dorothy, Frank Hootman, and Paul Reneker. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
