Garnet W. Davis

Mr. Garnet W. Davis, 86, of Farmington, died Saturday, Aug. 2, at 1:05 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, where he had been a patient since July 21. He had been seriously ill for 10 days.

He was born Sept. 19, 1882 at Millerburg, Ia., the son of the Rev. John and Sarah Stewart Davis.

He married Myrtle Darnell on July 7, 1906 at Troy, Iowa. She preceded him in death.

A resident of the Farmington area for thirty years, he was a retired farmer. Mr. Davis was a member of the Farmington United Methodist church.

Surviving are: a son, Perry Davis, of Morning Sun; three daughters, Mrs. Hoyt (Lana) Rickey of Winfield; Mrs. Cloyce (Ruth) Hayes of Washington; and Mrs. Arlo (Frances) Humphrey of Farmington; 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

he was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two daughters, Anna Davis and Mrs. Edith Boecker; one grandson; one great-grandson; one brother and two sisters.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 1:30 p.m. in the Farmington United Methodist church.

Burial was in Forest Home cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
