John Milton Norton

John Milton Norton, son of William J. Norton and Blanche Guinn Norton, was born July 23, 1907, at Hartwick, Iowa and died July 31, 1969 at his home east of Milton.

His early childhood was spent in Montezuma, Iowa area. At an early age he joined the Methodist Church. He was a high school graduate at Loyalton, South Dakota.

On June 15, 1929 he was united in marriage to Viola Fuhr at Washington, Iowa. To this union was born a daughter Phillis and a son Wayne. Following his marriage he farmed for five years near Stockport. In 1937 he moved to the farm east of Milton where he resided at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1957.

Those surviving include his wife Viola; his daughter, Mrs. Ronald McCullough of Jewett City, Conn.; his son Wayne of Milton; his mother, Mrs. Blanche Norton of Washington, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Orville (Ruth) Griggs; five grandchildren, Clifford, Valeen and Michael McCullough and Mark and Darla Norton; several cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Services were held Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Grace Methodist Church in Milton with the Rev. Ray Pearson and Rev. Herbert Phillips officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery. Wellborn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
