Beulah Yarnell

Beulah L. Yarnell, 74, longtime Van Buren County school teacher, died Wednesday, July 23 at 8:30 p.m. at Van Buren Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua after an illness of several weeks.

Miss Yarnell had been hospitalized for two months. Services were held Saturday, July 26 at 2 p.m. at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church in charge of the Rev. Millard Marshall. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Miss Yarnell's teaching career spanned 48 years. she retired in 1963 after serving in both the Stockport and Birmingham school systems. She also served for many years as a correspondent for area newspapers, including the Record Republican.

Miss Yarnell was born in Libertyville, moving with her parents to Birmingham the same year. She was the daughter of E.E. and Grace Teeter Yarnell.

She was a graduate of the Birmingham schools and attended Parsons College.

She is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Paul Yarnell of Stockport, Pro Yarnell and Mary Yarnell of Birmingham, and Mrs. Violet Irvine of Elmhurst, Ill. One sister preceded her in death.
