Willard C. Cocherell Sr.

Willard C. Cocherell Sr., 66, of Bonaparte, died Saturday, July 12, at 3 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, where he had been a patient for several months.

He was born June 15, 1903 at Keosauqua, the son of Arthur L. and Grace May Bennett Cocherell.

A lifelong resident of Bonaparte, he was formerly a meat cutter for Gilchrist in Bonaparte and Dorothy Brothers, Keosauqua. In later years he was employed as a glove cutter in the Fairfield Glove Co. plant.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church. He was an alumnus of the Bonaparte school and had been active in baseball and other sports.

His marriage to Helen Noske took place in 1927 at Lacon, Ill. She died Sept. 17, 1965.

Surviving are his mother of Bonaparte and two sons, Willard J. Cocherell of Bonaparte and Glenn J. Cocherell of Pope Air Force Base, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father.

The funeral service was held Monday, July 14, at 3 p.m. in the Presbyterian church, Bonaparte, with the Rev. Millard Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery.

Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
