Harold I. Strout

Harold I. Strout, of 1339 11th St., Marion, Iowa, a resident of 20 years, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, July 10 in a Cedar Rapids hospital.

The son of Edgar and Hattie Briggs Strout, he was born Oct. 19, 1894 at Chelsea, Mass. On Feb. 14, 1920 he was married to Claudie Pearl Bell at Englewood, Colo.

Mr. Strout was a retired bricklayer and moved to Marion from Milton in 1949. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Milton; Marion Lodge No. 6 A.F. & A.M.; Marion Chapter No. 183 O.E.S.; Cedar Rapids Consistory; El Kahir Shrine; Marion Post No. 298 American Legion; the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers International Union of American, Mr. Strout served with the U.S. Army in France during World War I.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Edna) Griffiths of Carpentersville, Ill.; three sons, Warren E. Strout of Speedway, Ind., William A. and George I. Strout of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Willard E. Strout of Fort Pirce, Florida.

He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Clayton Strout; a sister, Edna Strout, and a brother, Charles Strout.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14 at the Murcoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by Rev. Larry Suggs, and Marion Lodge No. 6. A.F. & A.M. Mrs. Norman Nielson was organist. Interment was at 4 p.m. Monday at Sunnyside Cemetery at Milton, conducted by Rev. Herbert Phillips.
