Mrs. Jess Davis

Mrs. Helen Brown Davis, 77, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5 at Fairfield Convalescent Home. She had broken her hip Jan. 1 and had been in serious condition the past month.

Born April 2, 1892, in Van Buren County, she was the daughter of Philip and Susan Swiers Brown. She was married June 6, 1914 to Jess E. Davis, he died Oct. 10, 1966. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mrs. Davis had taught school in the Glasgow area prior to her marriage. She and her husband had lived on farms in the Fairfield area until moving to town in 1960.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. William Baker of Fairfield; one grandson; three brothers, Chester of Bonaparte, Foster of Mount Union, and John S. of Crawfordsville; and four sisters, Mrs. Bruce Roberts of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Rex Koonts of Cantril, Mrs. Louis Denney of San Francisco, Calif. and Mrs. Sam Taylor of Toledo.

The funeral service was held Monday, July 7 at 2 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilson Hyde officiating. Burial was in Glasgow cemetery.
