Mrs. Lester Gutscher

Mrs. Lester (Ruby Delores) Gutscher, 56, 620 Thirty-fourth Street, Fort Madison, died at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, June 29 in University hospital, Iowa City. She had been ill two weeks.

Mrs. Gutscher was born July 22, 1912, in Van Buren county. She had lived in Fort Madison 23 years.

She and Lester Gutscher, who survives, were married March 12, 1949, at Bloomfield. Mrs. Gutscher was a member of the Union Presbyterian church, Circle No. 5 of the church, the Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine, Rebekah Lodge, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and was a charter member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls of Bonaparte.

Surviving are he mother, Mrs. Edith Hall Gilchrist, Keokuk; two sons, Charles Van Pelt, Las Vegas, Nev. and Robert E. Van Pelt, Fort Madison; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Morgan, Alamo, Calif.; and four grandchildren and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Orr Gilchrist, who died in 1942, and a brother.

Final rites were held at the Barr Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25. The Rev. John Lewis officiated. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
