Bruce Edward Davis

Bruce Edward Davis was born Dec. 17, 1898 at Packwood, Ia. the son of Ora Francis Davis and Carie Carson Davis. He had lived in Van Buren County since 1925.

On April 27, 1925 he married Delores Barker at Keosauqua, Ia. Of this union three daughters were born: Mrs. Ruth Ann Wright, Keosauqua; Mrs. June Wiley, Green City, Mo., and Mrs. Jan. Smith, Medell, Mo. Delores passed away on June 13, 1948, after lengthy illness.

On Sept. 13, 1949, Bruce Edward Davis and Margaret Doud Murphy were united in marriage at Bedford, Iowa. They lived their entire married life in Van Buren County.

Bruce served as a member of the U.S. Navy for three years, was a veteran of World War I and member of the American Legion. He was a great attribute to his many friends in Van Buren County, having served as Deputy Sheriff from 1949 to 1953 when he was appointed to fill the County Sheriff vacancy in 1953. Bruce was elected County Sheriff for the term of 1954-1956 and re-elected . . . .
