William A. Franklin

Funeral services for William A. Franklin, 76, who died Thursday, June 19 in Stockton, Calif., were held Tuesday, June 24 at 2 p.m. at Weston Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, conducted by the Rev. Ned Gillum. Burial in Brethren Cemetery, near Libertyville. The Fairfield American Legion post conducted military rites at the grave.

Born Feb. 24, 1893, in Libertyville, he was the son of Grant and Hanna Bonnett Franklin. His marriage to Ruth L. Davisson took place in March 1918. Mrs. Franklin died Oct. 7, 1956.

A retired farmer, Franklin was a veteran of World War I. He had farmed in Van Buren County prior to moving to California 23 years ago.

Survivors include seven daughters, Elizabeth Jorgenson, Maxine Englehart, Betty Minor, Darlene Realon, and Nancy Ancheta, all of Stockton, Calif., Leola Dodge of San Pablo, Calif., and Thelma Humphrey of Lodi, Calif.; six sons, Gerald of Carmichael, Calif., Guy and Paul of Fairfield, Donald of Winfield, Merel of Ottumwa and Warner of Batavia; 41 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Ralph of Fairfield, Robert of Keosauqua, and Emry of Bonaparte.
