Mrs. Gus Mills

Mrs. Lena Louise Mills, 84, died at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital in Long Beach, Calif., where she had been hospitalized since March 28, after she had a severe stroke.

The daughter of Henrietta and Jacob Leffler, she was born May 21, 1885, in Van Buren County, south of Bonaparte, Iowa.

She married Thomas Burnett, Sept. 12, 1902, who preceded her in death in 1929. Five years later, she married Gus Mills of Bonaparte, where she made her home till she was unable to care for herself and went to California to live with a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Hooper.

Mrs. Mills was a member of the Baptist Church, a Rebekah and the American Legion Auxiliary and was active as long as she was physically able to attend.

Surviving are her husband, Gus Mills; two daughters, Mrs. Estelle Holcomb of Camarillo, Calif. and Mrs. Gertrude Hooper of Long Beach, Calif.; a son, Mr. Harold Lee Burnett of Vista, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Kenneth Roberts of Fairfield, Iowa; a stepson, Mr. Donald Mills of Hillsboro, Iowa; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in Long Beach, Saturday, June 14, with interment at Melrose Abbey, Santa Ana, California.
