Russell T. Heald

Russell Todd Heald, son of Charles B. and Julia Todd Heald, was born in Scotland County, Missouri on July 18, 1897 and died May 31, 1969 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was united in marriage to Grace Carnahan on Sept. 8, 1921 at Bloomfield, Iowa. To this union were born four children, two daughters and two sons.

The Healds were in the hardware business for 33 years and farmed near Mt. Sterling. Mr. Heald was a member of the Mt. Sterling Christian Church. He was a World War I veteran and was recently honored for his 50-year membership in the American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Raymond and a grandson Todd Heald.

Surviving are his wife, Grace; the four children, Luvene of Keosauqua, Mrs. Gordon (Betty) Warrington of Burlington; Mrs. Miller (Beverly) Blair of Mt. Sterling, and Glenn of Dubuque; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Sullivan of Downers Grove, Ill., Mrs. Helen Dowling of Dunedin, Fla., and Mrs. Maud McElroy of Ottumwa; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 2 at the Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert E. Phillips officiating. Burial was in Harness Cemetery. Catcott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
