Burton R. Nason

Burton R. Nason was born on the old Nason farm near Selma, Iowa on January 10, 1896. He was the fourth son of Granville and Clara Nason. He graduated from Success Business College in Ottumwa and worked in the office of John Morrell & Co. for about 9 years. He was disabled American Veteran and on account of his disability was forced to retire from his work at an early age.

In 1921, he was united in marriage to Helen Hanson. To this union one daughter was born, who died during birth.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Helen, 2 brothers, Harry J. of El Monte, Calif.; and Harold of Ottumwa, Iowa, a sister, Nettie May Ellis of near Selma; several nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Nason have enjoyed a very happy life living in so many different states and learning the customs of the different parts of the country.

The last 23years they have lived in different parts of Florida and at present their real home is on their church camp ground at Brooksville, Fla. This is a place of permanent homes where all are Wesleyan Methodist's.

He was saved when just a young boy at the Free Methodist near the Nason farm and has been a faithful Christian all his life. He has contributed and been real interested in helping build a new church where he attended when a boy.

He was a great reader of the Bible and has always taken a firm stand for what is right. God had first place in his heart. At the time of his death they had just gotten to their summer home in a house trailer on the Earl Six property at Milton, Iowa. His death came as a great shock to all loved ones, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 11 at 2 p.m. at the Milton United Methodist Church with Rev. Herbert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery. Wellborn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
