Mary Wallingford

Mrs. Mary A. Wallingford, 92, a resident of Cedar Rapids for 25 years, died suddenly at her home there Friday evening, May 9. She was born Dec. 3, 1876, at Fairfield.

Surviving are three daughters, Bessie Gardner of Burlington, Mrs. Lloyd W. Lawson of Ottumwa and Mrs. Robert Huff of El Segundo, Calif.; two sons, Richard Coates of Anaheim, Calif., and Vermille D. Shaffer of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ole Wenos of Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Julia Wenos of Long Beach, Calif.

Mrs. Wallingford was a member of the First Congregational Church and was past president of the Bible Class of the church She was a member of the Red Cross and a Gold Star Mother.

Memorial services were conducted in Turner Chapel East, Cedar Rapids, at 12 noon Tuesday, May 13, by the Rev. J. Richard Wagner. Graveside services were held at the Bonaparte Cemetery at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
