Carl E. Garmoe

Carl E. Garmoe, 80, Fairfield, who remained active in the insurance, real estate and loan business until his recent illness, died Tuesday, May 6, at 7:10 a.m. at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

He was born May 21, 1888, in Winfield, the son of William D. and Lois Thompson Garmoe. He attended Burlington Business College and Iowa State Teachers College. He was married in Burlington March 6, 1911, to Mabel Stephens, who survives. They moved to Fairfield in 1915. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Odd Fellows and a member of Iowa Encampment No. 6.

Surviving besides his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Ted Plowman of Douds; a son Earl of Fairfield and three granddaughters.
