Mrs. George Askew

Mrs. Myrtle Belle Askew, 85, widow of George A. Askew, died Friday, April 4, at Fairfield Convalescent Home.

Born Nov. 28, 1883, near Hastings, Nebr., she was the daughter of Ellis and Marjory Carlson Smith. She was married Sept. 26, 1906. Her husband died April 27, 1959.

Mrs. Askew had been a resident of Stockport 73 years. She lived in Colorado 10 years and Nebraska three. She was a member of Erie United Methodist Church of Erie, Colorado.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Russell Thompson and Mrs. Harold McLain, both of Stockport, and Mrs. Thomas Trunzo of Berlin, N.J.; two sons, William of Hillsboro and LaMonte of Stockport; 15 grandchildren; six great-grand-children; four sisters, Mrs. Royal Hissem of Ottumwa, Mrs. George Boyer and Mrs. Earl Stinson of Douds, and Aletha Smith of Des Moines; and one brother, Norvin Smith of California.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Stockport United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dwight C. Bonham officiating. Burial was in Spencer Cemetery, near Stockport.
